We use a variety of techniques to make this piece, include casting, polishing and high-quality plating. The result is a super light, fine finish. The metal used in ELK jewellery is nickel free and meets the EU REACH standards.

MAKER

This style was made by Korean company Cielo Sereno at the factory that they work with, located in Qingdao, China. Cielo is owned and operated by Eun Hee Kim who we know as Olive. She is an incredible, creative woman with a young family. Olive established her business in 2004 after she graduated from Central Saint Martins School of Fashion in London.

As they operate as an agent for us, we are actively working with Olive to increase transparency across the entire operation. Olive works directly with the factory each month conveying our designs and ensuring our vision is brought to life.

The factory is a member of Sedex and undergoes regular social compliance audits.

ELK - Tonde Slide - Twilight

The bold plait design and super-soft sheep leather of the Tonde Slide bring both comfort and edge to the everyday design. A moulded leather footbed supports the foot and the ridged lightweight foam sole provides cushioning, making it comfortable and easy to wear. The upper section is super soft with a spongey like feeling - we love a chunky slide to wear with jeans, pants and long dresses.

Leather is a natural, renewable material made from animal hides that have been preserved and softened through a tanning process. We select our leathers based on their individual properties and the intended application.

This product is made from leather sourced from a Leather Working Group (LWG) audited and rated tannery. LWG aims to improve the environmental impact of the leather industry by assessing and certifying leather manufacturers. The audit protocol covers energy use, waste, water use and chemicals, as well as traceability. Chromium VI is not used in any tanning processes for our leathers.

These shoes have been handmade in Agra, India by family-owned and operated factory Gupta Overseas Pty Ltd. They have been in business for over 60 years and specialise in making shoes for the European market. With a commitment to responsible business practices and a culture of continuous improvement, Gupta has implemented some outstanding initiatives to support their employees, community and the environment. 

Care Instructions

These leather shoes should be cleaned and conditioned with a neutral cream polish. Apply with a soft cloth and rub into dry or scuffed areas. Leather is a natural material and will age with wear. It is imperative that you avoid wetting or soaking these shoes in water as this will greatly affect the quality and appearance.

Material

100% French Linen

This garment has been made from 100% French Linen; natural fibre from flax grown in the light, breathable fabric that is durable and strong. It wrinkles easily which is part of its appeal, it is easy to care for and becomes softer with age and wear. Flax is a highly productive crop requiring minimal water, herbicides, or pesticides to grow, making it a better environmental choice than many other natural fibers, such as conventionally grown cotton.

Maker

This garment was designed by the ELK team and made by Tongxiang Jimmy Fashions in China. Jimmy has worked with us since 2010 making woven and knitted apparel. He has a team of 80 plus workers, the majority of which are women. The factory is signed up to Sedex and undertakes regular SMETA audits. Jimmy is actively working with us to make workplace improvements and operate an ethical and sustainable business. We visit Jimmy at least twice a year and he visits our team in Melbourne annually.

Size and Fit

These pants have a great, wide-leg fit with a neater fitting waist featuring a flat front and elastic at the back for comfort, while the cuffless legs allow for easy alteration if required. We recommend taking your usual size to ensure they can pull easily over the hips, which you can then adjust using the internal waist tie.
