Community is all about sharing good food, giving you endless ideas on delicious salads to serve up for your family, friends and neighbours. These simple, sustainable and healthy recipes feature fresh, seasonal produce and inject colour, life and flair into that most modest of everyday meals: the salad. Rather than being simply sides,Community's salads are meals in their own right, giving vegetables, legumes, herbs and nuts their moment to shine.
The recipes in Community are inspired by author Hetty McKinnon's community kitchen, Arthur Street Kitchen, where Hetty single-handedly makes and delivers homemade salads to residents in Surry Hills, Sydney, on Thursday and Friday every week. All by bike! Hetty's salads use only the freshest produce, sourced locally wherever possible. Inspired first and foremost by the seasons, Hetty also takes cues from what she sees, smells and experiences from the world around her. At the heart of every dish is a core vegetable, around which a thoughtful culinary story is built, resulting in honest, inventive and hearty salads that deliver big, punchy flavours.
From the daughter-father duo that created Brooklyn's beloved live pun competition comes Punderdome, the "Punderful card game [that] will replace Cards Against Humanity at your next party" (Mashable.com).
One part game, one part conversation starter, you don't need to be a pun master to master Punderdome: the goal is to make bad jokes and have fun along the way.
A player (the prompter for that round) draws two prompt cards from the deck, and then reads the prompts to the rest of the group, who have 90 seconds to create a single, groan-worthy pun that combines the two prompts.
When time is up, pun makers share their puns with the prompter, who awards the prompt cards to the player whose pun he or she likes best. The winner then draws the next pair of prompt cards and the process repeats. Players win by obtaining 10 pairs of cards.
When Hetty McKinnon uprooted her beloved Arthur Street Kitchen from Sydney's Surry Hills and relocated to Brooklyn, NYC, she left behind legions of devoted fans. These fans found solace in Community, Hetty's immensely popular cookbook showcasing the delicious, seasonal salads so adored by her customers.
Now Hetty is back, with a second cookbook that is equally sure to delight and inspires. Neighbourhood takes its cues from Community and ventures a little bit further. These salad and sweets recipes are inspired by many different places, journeying from Brooklyn to the greater Americas, the Mediterranean, Asia, France, Australia and many other places around the world for inspiration.
How quickly can you describe a word without actually saying it?
Speed is of the essence in this fast-thinking, fast-talking game - the more words your team can guess from your descriptions in 30 seconds, the quicker you'll cross the finishing line. And that's without saying 'rhymes with' or 'sounds like'. As your team-mates shout out their guesses you struggle to Articulate a better description!
Articulate uses 6 categories of words, so you could end up describing anything from a kettle to a country depending on which category you've landed on... from Object, Nature, Action, World, Person or Random.
To spice things up further Articulate throws a "Spinner" in the works to encourage sabotage: land on an appropriate segment and spin the spinner to win bonus places, move yourself forward or indulge your vicious streak and drag the leaders back!
And if you thought that was mean, wait till one team lands on a Control Segment. Then it's a free-for-all of epic proportions that would drown out the Tower of Babel!
Categories include Person, World, Object, Action, Nature and Random. First team to make it around the board and successfully answer a spade category (chosen from any of the above) wins the game.
Articulate is the perfect game to suit any time, any setting and any group, even those which include stroppy teenagers and Granny!
When it comes to fast, frenzied fun and exhilarating entertainment, Articulate simply has no rivals! When the shy start yelling, the cocky turn puce, and everyone's gripped with the giggles - you know Articulate is working its magic.
